Cancellation Policy & Medical & Risk Disclosure Statement –

Refund policy: There will be no refund given if a participant fails to turn up for a confirmed booking or if a cancellation is submitted to Adventure
Outdoors Ltd within 24 hours of tour departure time.

A 50% cancellation fee apply’s if the cancellation is submitted 2-7 days prior to tour departure time.

We recommend our participants have travel insurance.

Full Refund – If the weather is unsuitable & Adventure Outdoors Ltd cancel your tour a full refund will be provided. If the weather is marginal we will give you the right to cancel or change dates If you decide to cancel in this case a full refund will be given.

In adverse or changeable weather – If we go ahead with the tour and you join the tour  You accept that the tour may not complete the whole of the activity if changeable weather and/or adverse conditions develop & effect the safety of Adventure Outdoors Staff and / or its participants. In this case you still pay full price You will not be refunded.

SAFETY POLICY – If you participate in a tour and are unable to complete the tour due to lack of fitness / ability / a medical condition / or you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol which may put yourself, our staff and our participants in danger we have the right to withdraw any person who in our opinion is likely to endanger themselves or others. We reserve the right to change plans and/or cancel your program  if we become concerned for any reason for your safety or that of any person in our care. No refund will be given in this situation.

Adventure activities have an element of risk which can result in serious consequences including property damage/loss, personal injury and potentially even death.
Adventure Outdoors Ltd cannot guarantee the absolute safety of participants; but we can guarantee that:
-We have in place industry approved best practice policy & procedures, Adventure Outdoors staff are trained to identify & manage risks / hazards along the way and are prepared for any foreseeable incident / accident or emergency situations. -Pre-Trip checks are made regarding avalanche / weather / volcanic forecast & safe travel routes.
Heightened or increased risks will be disclosed to you before commencement of the tour.
For you – You must have good fitness, Time schedule is critical – If your pace / fitness / ability is not strong enough to keep up with the group pace / time schedule; you may be required to return to the start of the track if we feel you cannot complete the full track safely. We reserve the right to change plans and/or cancel your program if we become concerned for your safety or that of any other person.
No experience No Problem. Your guides provide safety instructions / supervision & training as required.
To avoid the risk of – Hypothermia / Getting Lost / Slipping / Tripping or falling; you must listen to all safety briefings given to you along the way.
Volcanic Risk – Today’s tour involves walking over an active volcano. There is always a degree of volcanic risk. The volcanoes within the Tongariro National Park are monitored by GNS NZ’s approved government agency. We check & heed to the advice updated daily at https://www.geonet.org.nz/volcano.
Guided Walks into the Tongariro Alpine Crossing do not commence if any increase in volcanic activity. Today’s Volcanic Alert Level is at 0 – NO Volcanic Unrest.
However – An eruption can occur with little or no warning. If an eruption does occur – Stop / Look / Listen to your guide / Avoid any flying debris. Await further instructions from your guide.
Adventure Outdoors Ltd staff have the right to turn a tour or a participant back or cancel a tour if we see fit. We reserve the right to withdraw any person who in our opinion is likely to endanger themselves or others.
-Medical / Health Disclosure – You are required to inform us of any medical conditions / medications you are taking / past injuries / allergies you may have that will affect your performance today. You acknowledge that walking on natural surfaces does carry some degree of potential risk of injury, and that physical effort may cause existing medical conditions to worsen.
If you are not comfortable accepting the element of risks involved in today’s tour, let us know before this tours departure to cancel your tour and receive a full refund.
